Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 22, 2026

DayMark is a mobile application for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use DayMark (“the App”).

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

DayMark is a local-first application. The data you create is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. This includes: event titles, dates, and count direction (count down or count up); categories and groups; reminder settings; progress and workdays-only preferences; milestones; notes and mood journal entries; and app preferences (such as theme, language, and your work week).

If you are a Pro user on iOS and choose to enable iCloud sync (see §4), a copy of this local database is stored in your personal iCloud container under your own Apple ID. DayMark does not receive or have access to that data; it is handled entirely by Apple.

We do not require you to create an account or provide your email address or any other contact information to use the App.

1.2 Data Collected Automatically

DayMark performs no external tracking, contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and makes no server calls with the content you create. All insights, statistics, and your Year in Review are computed locally on your device.

The only third-party service that processes limited technical data is:

  • RevenueCat — Purpose: subscription and purchase management. Data collected: purchase transactions, subscription status, and an anonymous customer identifier. This data does not include your event data, notes, journal entries, or any content you create within the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the data you create solely to provide the App’s features on your device — displaying your countdowns, sending the reminders you schedule, and computing your insights locally.

We use the limited technical data collected by RevenueCat only to manage and validate your DayMark Pro subscription.

We do not use your event titles, dates, notes, journal entries, reminders, or any other content for advertising or to build personal profiles for targeted marketing.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Technical data is shared only with the following third-party service providers, strictly for the purposes described above:

  • RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — Subscription management.
  • Apple iCloud (Apple Inc., Pro iOS only)— If you enable iCloud sync in the App’s Settings, your local database is stored in your personal iCloud container. This data remains under your Apple ID; DayMark has no access to it.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store — App distribution and payment processing.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your event data is stored locally in a database on your device. We do not operate servers that store this personal data.

Pro users on iOS may optionally enable iCloud sync from the in-app Settings. When enabled, the App writes copies of your local database to your personal iCloud container under your own Apple ID, and resolves conflicts between devices on a last-write-wins basis. These copies stay inside your iCloud account; they are never sent to DayMark’s servers, because DayMark does not operate any such servers. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings, and you can remove DayMark’s iCloud data from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage. iCloud sync is off by default, unavailable on Android, and unavailable on the Free plan.

While we take reasonable measures to protect the limited technical data described above, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

  • Notifications — To send event reminders at times you choose. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
  • Internet Access — Required for subscription management (RevenueCat) and, for Pro users on iOS, iCloud sync. The core countdown functionality works offline.
  • iCloud (iOS, Pro only)— Required only if you enable iCloud sync in Settings. Used to store copies of your database in your personal iCloud container. The App uses the device’s existing iCloud login; no additional credentials are requested.

All permissions are optional, and the core countdown functionality works offline.

6. Your Rights

Because your event data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can: access your data directly within the App; delete your data by deleting individual events or uninstalling the App. If you enabled iCloud sync, you can also disable it from the in-app Settings, or remove all DayMark iCloud data from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any technical data we may hold. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

7. Data Retention

Local data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. iCloud copies (when enabled) are retained in your personal iCloud container until you disable sync or delete them. Technical data collected by RevenueCat is retained according to its data retention policy.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
